Gigi Lai on Working as CEO
Gigi Lai has temporarily left the entertainment industry and is currently working as the CEO of her brother’s dermatology clinic. Recently, she posted on her blog pictures of herself working at the clinic. She says the pressure of working at the clinic is not less than the pressure of filming a movie. But the clinic is her brother’s dream and she wants to continue the dream for her brother.
Gigi and her brother Lai Ying shares a very close relationship, since her younger brother’s traffic accident last year, Gigi has cared for him and left the entertainment business to help with the running of his clinic. Ever since gigi took over the management of the clinic, she has been learning how to run the business, she said, "the pressure of running a business is not less than the pressure of filming, but I want to fulfil my brother’s wish. " Gigi also revealed that when the business runs into difficulties, she would solve the problems one by one, which gives her great satisfaction and encouragement to carry on.
Asked when would she be ready to return to filming? Gigi said, in the past months she received numerous offers to film series and movies. However, because she was busy with caring for her brother’s clinic, she had to turn down the offers with some regret. When she returns to the screen, Gigi would want to play a legendary female character, she said: "There are many legendary female figures, I think I want to portray Empress Dowager Cixi."
At present, Gigi has no specific plans to return, so for the audience who miss her, must bear with more patience. However, Gigi did not forget to remind her fans: "My new drama 80 episodes of “Gem of Life” is coming up soon.”
