TVB's entertainment magazine programme Scoop <東張西望> held a special premiere event for the airing of the first episode of grand production The Gem Of Life <珠光寶氣> this evening. Among the cast members taking part were Gigi Lai (黎姿), Lee Si Kei (李司棋), Ada Choi (蔡少芬), Moses Chan (陳豪), Maggie Siu (邵美琪) and Bowie Lam (林保怡).

During the show, Gigi made a surprise announcement that she will be retiring from showbiz so that she can concentrate on looking after her brother's business and caring for her family. She said that Gem will be her last performance in a series and her interview on Scoop will be her last formal appearance.

Asked if she was making this decision because she plans to get married, Gigi said that this was not the case. As for whether or not she still has any contractual obligations with TVB, she pointed out that she will always be a TVB person, regardless of any contracts between them.

When Gigi was asked how long it had taken her to reach this decision, she replied that she had thought about it when she first started filming for Gem and then some other incidents that she did not want to talk about also swayed her decision. She said that she felt an obligation to fulfil her duties to help promote this series, so she has waited until this work was completed before she made this announcement.

After giving almost three decades of her life to the entertainment industry, Gigi said that she would like to take some time out to pursue her own interests, such as studying and spending time with her family. She explained that she could not balance running the business with her acting work, so she had to give up one of her jobs.

Gigi thanked the support given to her by her co-stars, especially Ada, Maggie and Si Kei, during the difficult times when her brother Stephen (黎嬰) suffered horrific injuries in a road accident. When she spoke about her brother, Gigi became quite emotional and began to cry, making Ada quite teary too.

Ada said that Gigi will be missed by everyone, but the most important thing was for her to be happy. She added that she felt privileged to have filmed several series with her and she sees Gigi as a sister

Other co-stars also supported Gigi's decision and Moses said that he admired her for her courage and strength through such difficult times and he wished her every happiness.

Si Kei was quite shocked when she saw Gigi crying because she did not know what was happening. She praised Gigi for being a very remarkable woman, who is extremely dedicated to her family, so she will always look out for Gigi.

The 80-episode Gem premiered today in Hong Kong and will run until February 2009.

Raymond Lam's second album (My Love) has sold over 30,000 copies. Yesterday evening Emperor Entertainment Group record company specifically held a celebration party for him. EEG Executive Ng Yu awarded him with a Platinum Disc. There were also 5 tables arranged for an abalone feast. TVB executive's Stephen Chan and Virginia Lok were also present to support him. Vincy Chan also attended his party and gave him flowers. You can see that Raymond Lam is loved by everybody.

Raymond Lam frankly said he did not know his album sales will reach platinum disc sales because his first album only reached gold disc sales. When he received the good news he was quite shocked. Yesterday night Moonlight Resonance cast held a celebration dinner at Central Wing Lung Bank Building hosted by TVB Vice Chairman Executive( i think that is what he is not sure ) Leung Nai Pang they had dinner in the top floor of the building and cast that attended includes Lee Si Kei, Raymond Lam, Moses Chan. Kate Tsui, Lee Heung Kam, Suzanna Kwan, Tavia Yeung , Lai Lok Yi & Louis Yeun. Also TVB Executives Stephen Chan, Catherine Tsang & Virgina Lok were also present

Leung Nai Pang presented 6 bottles of Red Wine for everyone to drink, Raymond Lam And Louis Yeun drank wine until their faces were all red before the dinner had ended. Raymond Lam who is rumour to have a high chance of winning Best Actor said that he doesn't drink red win but Maotai ( some type of Chinese liquor). The nights big joke was by Moses Chan to Raymond Lam when he said " As the present position of TV king i hope that this year you will become TV king" this made Raymond very happy so they both made a toast together drinking the Maotao but secretly Moses swapped his Maotai ( its like clear liquor) with water. As Raymond was in a high mood he kept drinking till his face turned red. In fact TVB high levels already expected Raymond to drink a lot so they advised him not to drive his car there.

In their latest album FM S.H.E, one of the new songs – “Girls Ought To Be Strong” adapted part of its tune from Wong Fei Hong’s “Men Ought To Be Strong”. The music genre is the line of “Chin-Hop”, a blend of Chinese music and Hip-Hop. The lyrics encouraged girls not to be beaten in Love, and the need to be true to and love themselves; advocating for strong female awareness. A martial arts coach was invited to teach S.H.E “The Art of Self Defence in Love” in preparation for filming of the MV. The 1st stunt is to kick away the Poor Love that broke the hearts of the girls; while the 2nd stunt is to open one’s arms to welcome New Romance. The 3rd stunt is to learn how to Protect and Love oneself while in a relationship. Next, S.H.E imparted these stunts to the rest of the girls trapped in love and encouraged them to be independent and stand up for themselves. There is no need to wait in vain for Prince Charming to appear, but to be proactive to embark on the journey to Protect Love.

S.H.E expressed that, “No one is perfect. Hence, do not compromise in love just because you feel inferior. We girls, must be confident of ourselves. If you have loved the wrong person, just get out and move on. Leila will act a mother who has a lot of mental problems; knowing that her boyfriend sexually harassed her daughter but still does not say anything. The character’s inner feelings are very complex and I really want Leila to act this part. This movie combines some of the more recent styles of detective movies into it. The main female character is a woman who knows that her boyfriend has sexually harassed her daughter, but says nothing about it. In the end she personally kills her daughter. At first I thought Leila wouldn’t agree to this part, but after she read the script she thought the character would be a big challenge for her and she accepted it”.

The main male character is to be played by Samuel Pang, who acts as Leila’s boyfriend. Dennis Law said, “Samuel considered it for a long time before finally agreeing to act in it. I am really grateful of him and Leila. Although this movie has some sensitive subjects about it, but there won’t be any graphical content.” Maggie Siu will act as a top policewoman, she will often times be very violent.
